[
review of 'what grace' ]
Kendricks
first offering for six years, What Grace consists of 12 worship
songs (well, modern day hymns), and reflects his passion for more
Christ-centred worship. The Beatitudes are convincingly put to music and
Rock of Ages revamped 200 years on. The Lord is Present Here and Say the
Name of Love with its call and response format are among those written
for - and likely to be well used by - congregations. It nudged my heart
into worship and, though a meaty, theological album, What Grace stirs
the spirit with themes of joy in trials, awe at Gods grace, sins
paid for and Gods presence. A welcome addition is the guest appearance
of Matt Redman and Martin Smith (Delirious) representing a little seen
bridge between generations in worship. The CD also includes sheet music,
acetates and words.
High
point: Andy Piercy's production gives this album a varied contemporary
& quality feel
