Heaven is in my Heart was written to be used on March for Jesus, hence the simple crowd
friendly chorus, and sense of exhuberance, and the theme is based on Jesus teaching that the kingdom of God/Heaven is among us here and now as well as the promise of it's fulness in the future - often explained as 'the Kingdom is now and not yet'. The verses expand on the 'not yet' aspect, eg 'the hope of our inheritance'.
"Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
